Who we are

What Matat Translate does

Matat Translate is a Chrome extension that shows the Shopify admin in Hebrew, Arabic or Russian, and a website where you buy and manage the licence.

What the extension reads, and what it never sends

The extension runs on Shopify admin pages and reads the page's text to replace phrases it knows.

That reading happens entirely on your device. Page content is never sent anywhere, never stored and never logged. The dictionary ships inside the extension.

It only replaces phrases that exist in its dictionary. Product, customer and order names, addresses and anything you or your customers typed stay exactly as they are.

What we collect

Account: your email address (to sign in and for account messages), your password (stored only as a one-way hash, so not even we can read it) and the name you choose to show.

Licence: the Shopify store address it covers, the plan, the billing interval, the subscription status and the end of the paid period.

Team: the email and name of invited team members, and the language assigned to each.

Extension: a random installation identifier the extension creates itself, to enforce the number of devices per team member (two), and the time of the last licence check. It is not a device fingerprint: we read no characteristic of your computer.

Purchases: order details (plan, amount, date, status and the processor's transaction id). Card details go straight to the payment processor — we never see or store them.

Cookies

We use two essential cookies only: a sign-in cookie that keeps you signed in, and one that remembers the site language you chose. No tracking cookies, no analytics, no advertising.

In addition, your browser keeps, on your device only (in its local storage, not in a cookie), the accessibility settings you chose and that you closed the cookie notice. This is never sent to us.

The site's fonts are served from our own server, so browsing the site sends nothing to any third party.

Who else sees the data

We do not sell personal data and do not share it for advertising.

Data is stored and processed by providers working for us: Railway — site hosting and database (Amsterdam, Netherlands); DigitalOcean Spaces — encrypted backups (Frankfurt, Germany); payment processor — payments; Amazon Web Services (SES) — password-reset emails and team invitations (Frankfurt, Germany).

How long we keep it

For as long as the account and the licence exist.

When a licence is removed, its team members, installations and invitations are deleted. Purchase records are kept as tax and accounting law requires.

Backups are kept up to 35 days, encrypted, and roll off automatically. Server logs are retained for 30 days, and we keep personal data out of them.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete your data. Write to support@matat.co.il and we will answer within 30 days.

Changes

We post any change here and update the date above. A significant change — such as a new kind of data — is announced in advance.
